About WindProof Editing
WindProof Editing provides thoughtful proofreading and copyediting for indie authors, website content creators, and business professionals who want their words to be clear, polished, and engaging without losing their own voice.
Meet the Editor
Hello! I'm Michelle Windsor, the editor behind WindProof Editing. After decades of reading voraciously, teaching English grammar, supporting young writers, and developing a keen eye for errors, I created WindProof Editing—a space where independent voices can thrive. As a proofreader and copy editor, I specialize in helping indie authors, online content creators, multilingual (ESL) writers, and business professionals polish their words and publish with total confidence.
I help make your book manuscripts, blog posts, sales copy, and business documents clearer, more concise, and more consistent—without losing your unique voice. Whether you need a final proofread or deep copyediting, I approach your project with care, respect, and meticulous attention to detail. Let's work together to make your ideas shine.
My Approach
Good editing should strengthen your writing, not take it over. My approach focuses on careful attention to detail, respect for your voice, and practical suggestions that help prepare your words for your readers.
the five c's of editing
respect your voice
clear, reviewable edits
Clarity, conciseness, consistency, correctness, and coherence—the five C's of editing—guide the way I review each project, whether I'm proofreading a final draft or copyediting a piece that needs a more in-depth look.
My goal is not to rewrite your work into something that sounds like someone else. I look for ways to strengthen and smooth your writing while preserving the tone, message, and personality that make it yours.
I provide edits and comments so you can review each suggestion before accepting it. Depending on your preference, I can edit your work using Microsoft Word Track Changes, Acrobat PDF comments, or Google Docs suggesting mode.
